In 1569, the scholar Yi I (Yulgok) visited Cheonghak Mountain and left a written record called 'Yuchonghak Mountain Record,' referring to it as a 'small Geumgang Mountain.' He renamed the mountain, which was then called Cheonghak Mountain, to So-gum-gang. In 2021, after the Odaesan National Park Office and the Yulgok Research Institute renovated a section of the So-gum-gang Mountain trail, it has gained popularity as the '1569 Yulgok Heritage Trail.'
